Five Wounds Portuguese Church Wedding

Danny and Goretti are both Portuguese and grew up in the Portuguese community. They met in 2002 at a Portuguese fiesta in Half Moon Bay and had their first official date the summer of 2011. After several years of knowing each other, it turned out to be a good thing they decided to go on a date. My favorite part is how Goretti described Danny’s surprise shower proposal “it was our very own romantically inspired scene out of a Nicholas Sparks movie”. In true Danny fashion, his proposal was just as genuinely hilarious and spontaneous as he is, which is wonderful.

When I arrived at the Hotel Valencia and met the wedding party, I knew it was going to be a fun time. Large wedding parties can be a challenge on the wedding day, but this couple pulled everything off and had a great time with their closest friends. This was the first time I shot a ceremony at Five Wounds Portuguese Church and it’s GORGEOUS! After the ceremony we went to Alum Rock Park in San Jose, another great spot picked by the couple. Their reception was help at the Portuguese Band of San Jose, and that’s where the real party started. This wedding was by far one of the wildest receptions I have photographed. From the first dance surprise to the hilarious never ending speeches, this is definitely a wedding I will never forget!
